The Pedi People is a business for everyone and is run by us…Karen Farquhar and Melissa Harrison.

We are a couple of business mums with years of experience in the corporate and health care sectors. We love The Pedi People and want to share it with the world. It’s a great business for our clients as it solves a problem that they no longer can do for themselves. Equally it’s a great business for franchisees as its mobile, low cost, easy to run & you have us by your side.

Just like many of you considering a franchise, we started out with the dream of owning our own business, being our own boss, providing a needed service but also being there for our kids.

In 2017 we rebranded from The Toenail People to The Pedi People as we felt that our image needed a revamp. The Toenail People was established in 2000 and began franchising soon after.  The Toenail People, now The Pedi People have celebrated 17 wonderful years as Australia’s No. 1 professional toenail cutting and mobile hand and foot care service.

We are passionate about older and disabled people and anyone else who struggles with their toenails and foot care.  For us, it’s all about providing our clients with an exceptional service and knowing that what they do each day really improves the quality of life of our clients.  Our clients rely on The Pedi People regular visits as the key to their health and mobility is the great foot care service they receive from us.

Lets step back in time….

It all began 17 years ago, when Karen, our Founder, noticed that her home nursing clients in QLD were struggling to cut their toenails. Karen saw first-hand how her clients were affected by their long toenails. It made it really difficult for them to be comfortable and stay active.

Karen’s experience showed her that older people have difficulty bathing, dressing and putting on socks and cutting their toenails. Of these three tasks, the most difficult of these was cutting their own toenails. The reasons why older people are unable to cut their toenails vary: some have arthritis and rheumatism, health issues prevent them bending down, some have poor eyesight, some found it impossible to cut the hard nails which develop with age.

After a lot of research and training, Karen found she could offer a professional, reliable and much needed caring service. A niche business was born and the clients started booking in droves.

Skip forward a couple of years to Melissa working in Sydney in the corporate world. She was working full time, struggling to make it all work. She had a really busy life, demanding job, a couple of young boys, a husband who worked long hours and a desperate desire to run her own business and unleash her inner-entrepreneur.

The friend thought she may be interested in a “Toenail People” franchise. “Yuk!” she thought and forgot about it until she had a few months in bed with glandular fever.  Until then she had never seriously thought about this fantastic niche business. The months in bed recuperating made Melissa realise that this business is really smart. Melissa quit her day job when she recovered, bought the Sydney franchise and hit the ground running.

We joined forces in 2016 to make The Pedi People a better service for our clients and also offer a new and improved franchise model to our franchisees.  Take a look around.  No matter whether you are a client or someone considering us as a franchise partner, why not say “hi”.  We are so proud and happy to talk to you about our fabulous business!

The Pedi People are proud members of the Franchise Council of Australia.
